We focus on the arts, creativity and literacies. We research in schools, universities, museums and galleries, theatres and cinemas, and local neighbourhoods. We work with teachers, artists, writers, museum and gallery educators, community groups and arts and cultural organisations, big and small, locally, nationally and internationally.

We are committed to long term, exploratory research partnerships. We aim to build richly descriptive, well-theorised accounts of pedagogy and practice and, through these, to understand more about the benefits of participation in cultural and creative activities.

We research both formal and informal learning. We are primarily qualitative researchers with substantive expertise in ethnography, action research, practitioner and collaborative research, visual research and place-based methods.
